‘Duck Dynasty’ review: Never give Si a samurai sword
There are so many questions that we have after watching Wednesday night’s new “Duck Dynasty” episode, beginning with a pretty simple one: why in the world does a Louisiana guy like Willie Robertson own a samurai sword? We know that he loves weapons, but this was a bit out of left field, even for Willie.
As for the next question, why in the world did Willie decide to show off this said sword to his Duck Commander employees? This is like dangling a piece of candy in front of an eight-year old, and then storing it in a place where you know that the kid will find it an quickly overdose on it. Jase of course took it from the office, and he and the rest of his cohorts decided to then spend their day trying out the sword (as dangerously as possible) by cutting open random objects. Si ended up breaking the sword and half, which leads up to the third and final question: why would you think that a pawn shop would be the right place to find a replacement sword? This place of course had nothing for them and with no way to fix Willie’s weapon, Si ultimately had to “repair” the thing himself to no success.
The samurai story was mostly entertaining largely in that it gave Si and Jase a chance to be their crazy entertaining selves, and it is always fun to see Willie’s brother in a situation where he is actually taking on the role of the straight guy rather than the one causing mayhem. As a matter of fact, we wish that the entire episode was about this rather than Willie trying to teach his daughter how to shoot. Sadie’s not a terrible character of a person by any means; she’s just not ridiculous, and we watch this show for the ridiculous!
How do you think this episode compares to some of the other madness that we have seen so far on “Duck Dynasty” season 2?
