ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: When will the secret be out?
Even though Castle and Beckett have seen their relationship progress to some extent on “Castle” season 5, there is one problem: many of their employees at the station still have no idea that it is going on, with the most important person being Captain Gates. Sure, they are starting to be more open with each other away from their homes … but there’s a big difference between a private and public relationship, especially when you spend most of your time stopping bad guys.
We all know that eventually, this secret will come out … so when will it be? Executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe is for now staying coy, even though he did have the following to say on the general subject to TV Guide:
“We’re going to move beyond it. There’s only so much storytelling we can sustain … Capt. Gates is certainly the big issue. How is she going to react? Is that going to threaten the partnership?”
At the end of the day, we see Gates’ biggest concern being that Castle and Beckett together couple jeopardize the integrity of their jobs, mostly because their feelings for each other could compromises cases at any given moment. However, there is a problem with breaking them up: who would be Rick’s new muse? At this point, it’s hard to argue that they are a package deal. In addition to that, their record of success with the precinct really speaks for itself at this point.

I totally agree with this statement. Gates does need to know that Castle has that intuitive intuision that sees outside the box, that closes cases which in turn reflects on her and her position as Captain within the 12th. Castle and Beckett have that on their side.
Castle is by Far…the best show on TV, drama, action and the lighter laugh out loud moments we all crave for a round out hour of entertainment. If only ABC would go for a two hour special, 45 minutes of my favorite show once a week is Not enough!

I feel like Gates has to suspect the relationship already. From Kate’s reactions to the events of ‘Probable Cause’, surely Gates understands that Castle means an awfully lot to Kate. So, it wouldn’t be a long stretch to think of them as actually being a couple. There is always the fact that Castle is not paid, so not actually falling under the same rules as real cops. I hope that angle gives her some ammo that she can use to argue the couple staying together. And their closure rate just adds to that!
If she suspects what we know, that Castle has loved Kate for years and she has had the same feelings for him, I think, anyway, she would know that their love for each other does not get in the way of their love of solving the crimes! So obvious in the Hamptons!
God, I love this show and it just keeps getting better for me since Kate and Castle have become lovers!
