‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: Christmas scoop on Chris Colfer, Damian McGinty
Want some more wonderful scoop from the “Glee” season 4 Christmas special? You really have the episode’s director Adam Shankman to thank for it, since he has been tweeting all sorts of great hints of the past week while he works around the clock on the set of the musical comedy.
The theme here is going to be returning stars, and we begin with this lovely bit of news: Mike O’Malley will be returning for this episode! If you have read this page for any substantial span of time, then you are probably well aware already that our love for O’Malley runs deep. Burt Hummel is the sort of dad everyone looks up to, and he will be paying Kurt a visit in New York during this episode. (Now, we wish that the show could find a way to include him even more, as impossible as that probably is given that his character lives in a separate city.
Now, we also turn to another man who is officially coming back now after weeks of speculation: Damian McGinty’s Rory. After hearing rumors about him possibly just being a part of a dream sequence, we’re pleased to see the character back in his standard green polo.
Does this mean that Rory is back at McKinley to stay? It’s probably a little too early to guess on that, given that this could just be a one-episode spot meant to show you where the character has gone over the past few months. If Rory does return, however, can we go ahead and mark at the top of our wish list that his feelings for Sugar are explored a little bit more? It’s no offense to Marley, Jake, or any of the newbies, but it would also be nice to see some supporting characters from last season have a chance to shine.
What do you think about this news?

Well, well, well……….so Damian did actually return. Glee may actually have given him almost 30 seconds of screen time. But Glee still couldn’t figure out a way to have him sing—–even though his new solo EP was released (and hit #5 on the American charts) the day before the episode aired. I recorded the episode and watched Damian’s portion and thought he did a great job. I zipped through the rest of the episode to see if there was anything else worth watching, but there wasn’t. Found it interesting that they put Damian’s sequence at the start of the show—-presumably to get his large fan base interested enough to stick out the rest of the show to see if he’d be back. Overall, although it was nice to see Damian perform, I was disappointed in the episode and very disappointed that Damian didn’t have a chance to sing.

Just another “red herring.” We can only speculate, theorize and postulate. Only Mr. McGinty knows the truth behind all of these Glee shenanigans. He’s dropped little nuggets of truth along the way via Twitter and interviews which when added up are beginning to look like contract negotiations went awry and he has much bigger plans being implemented which he’s not at liberty to discuss publicly yet. My personal opinion is he’s had fantastic offers and opportunities he’s had to watch pass him by because Glee had a strangle-hold on him. He’s an extremely talented and very ambitious young man. If I were in his shoes I’d go for the gold and leave Glee in the proverbial dust. The only good thing that came out of his stint on TGP1 and Glee is that it brought him more worldwide exposure, which in turn exposed the truth about his incredible talent via his history with Celtic Thunder. Glee producers cannot “Pinnochio” their way out of this situation (although they sure as heck have tried!) The bald-faced truth is out there on youtube.com, cd’s and videos. Bottom line, the young man is a prodigy whose star is ascending ever higher and you, my (not so) dear Glee, are in a death spiral. R.I.P. (You ought to be ashamed of the way you treated Mr. McGinty!)

Well, as it turns out, Damian will be returning for the Christmas show, although it sounds like it will be in a very, very minor way as part of an “it’s A Wonderful Life” moment for Artie. Will stick to the plan of recording the show so I can see if Damian is treated any better before I bother trying to watch the rest of the episode.

Yes, boring is really the word. You’d think they could hire some more creative and skilled writers—–otherwise, I don’t see how even someone as popular and talented as Damian McGinty could save this show. If McGinty returns, I will record the episode and fast forward through it to see his performance. Otherwise—-yawn.

I’m not at all impressed with the new cast. It is sooooo boring this year!

Tried to watch a recent Glee episode on the DVR the other night. Got so bored, I fell asleep. Doesn’t seem to matter how many talented cast members they have—they only seem to use the actors playing Finn and Rachel to any great extent. Everyone else is pretty much wallpaper, and they get just enough screen time to keep them from being totally invisible, which is probably a good thing, since none of the performers playing students are particularly convincing actors..

I’m skeptical that McGinty will actually return to Glee, and even more skeptical that he’d have a decent script or appropriate music to work with if he did. I’ll only believe this if McGinty himself confirms it. Otherwise, it’s just more chum thrown into the water by the Glee folks to try to attract McGinty’s fans and boost the show’s ratings..
