Nick Cannon, ‘Wild ‘n Out’ returning to MTV2; we cheer a little inside
Sometimes, you love a show even when there is no particularly reason “why.” Ultimately, “Wild ‘n Out” fits this bill more than just about any other show out there. When it first aired on MTV2 back from 2005-07, it was a cult hit and brought improv comedy to an urban audience, which is something fairly revolutionary in the world of TV but in the same way that “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” revived the variety show genre on network TV. It was funny, random, and Nick Cannon proved that he had no problem mocking himself on a regular basis.
With all of this in mind, the following announcement makes us want to give a shout-out to DJ D-Reck while singing the “Family Reunion” song: MTV2 is, per The Hollywood Reporter, bringing back the show for a run in 2013. Cannon is still going to be involved in all capacities, and will hopefully have yet another great lineup of comedy all-stars around him.
Here is what you may not know about this show: some big names who previously participated on the show include the likes of Kevin Hart, Katt Williams, “Saturday Night Live” cast member Taran Killam, and even briefly Roastmaster General Jeff Ross. Ironically, the part of the show we always felt to be the weakest was the performance by a rapper at the end, mostly because there are so many other shows you can go to for music; with that being said, though, this is on a music network, and we don’t expect this to change at all.
Cannon is going to be a rather busy guy in 2013. He still serves as the chairman for TeenNick, hosts “America’s Got Talent,” and now also has this new show to plan out.
What do you think about this announcement?
