ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5, episode 7 preview: ‘Swan Song’ sneak peeks (video)
Monday night’s “Castle” season 5 episode is set to take us deep not just into the world of rock n’ roll, but also something that “The Office” and many shows like it know rather well: documentary films. When there are cameras are around everyone tends to act a little bit different, and this is the focus of some of the sneak peeks that we have to share of the next upcoming episode.
The first person to really fall victim to this was Lanie, who mastered the art of face-pulling and giving careful glances as soon as the cameras turned up to the coroner’s office. Really, all she had to do was explain that the victim in this case, rocker James Swan, had strangely never been vaccinated for polio or any other disease throughout his life. Could she have done all of this over the phone? Surely, but that would not have allowed her any airtime.
As the team starts to track this case back to a strange cult and its leader John Campbell, Ryan and Esposito start to steal the show with some brilliant exaggerations that make it very clear that they want to look cool. If we are to use the “Office” analogy once again here, Esposito is so the Jim Halpert of this gang.
Ultimately, you have to give Kate Beckett some credit for being able to handle the cameras better than just about everyone else. As a matter of fact, she really keeps her cool about as well as anyone could, and shows off some bad detective skills while interrogating Campbell about whether or not the victim paid him off in return for being left alone. We wonder how in the world this documentary ever got Campbell’s approval to go on-camera; then again, it’s possible that his face will be blurred out as soon as this product is used for whatever purpose that it is being shot for.
