‘Dexter’ season 7 spoilers: A new villain enters the fray

Just in case there was not enough going on in the world of “Dexter” season 7, some early descriptions for some upcoming episodes this season suggest that we are going to be in for not just more madness on the show, but also another villain to potentially rival Hannah McKay and Isaak … or at least Ray if not them. However, it looks like this person is more interested in playing with fire than they are with actually killing someone.

The villain’s name here is the Phantom Arsonist, which we have to start off by saying is not exactly as cool of a name as the Bay Harbor Butcher, Trinity, or the Ice Truck Killer. It’s actually almost a little too literal for our taste. Nonetheless, the ninth episode of the season is called “Helter Skelter,” and here are some of the details we know about this hour already.

“As Dexter scrambles to track down Isaak, a power struggle erupts among the Koshka Brotherhood, which could prove to Dexter’s advantage. Meanwhile, Miami Dade tries to smoke out the Phantom Arsonist.”

Meanwhile, the tenth episode of the season has a title that is almost mocking the show itself in “The Dark … Whatever,” and the description here suggests that Dexter’s trouble with Hannah is extending to the rest of her family:

“Dexter is unnerved when Hannah’s father pays him a surprise visit; the Phantom Arsonist’s crimes become more vicious; and Quinn defends Nadia’s honor and finds himself in a volatile situation. Meanwhile; LaGuerta asks a former superior for help on the Bay Harbor Butcher case.”

Is Hannah still around in these episodes? If so, it must be a mystery considering that she is not directly mentioned in either of these paragraphs. Then again, neither is Deb, so you have to take that with a grain of salt. The only thing we can say is that Ray Stevenson will for sure still be around, which is a bit polarizing given that Isaak is not necessarily that interesting of a villain.
