‘Shark Tank’ preview: Drive Suits bring ‘Transformers’ to life
There are some crazy products that arrive on “Shark Tank” from time to time, but the one that is the focus of our preview article this week has to be somewhere up near the top of the list when it comes to being ridiculously entertaining, but serving very little of a practical purpose at all.
Basically, the name of the company here is Drive Suits, and they are basically human versions of “Transformers” in that you can basically carry your own vehicle around with you. The founder here in Drew Beaumier has done a good job getting himself on TV over the past year, as he has made appearances on “Let’s Make a Deal” and even “American Idol,” where he auditioned basically wearing a Ford Mustang on his back. The strange thing is that he actually had a decent voice, but the gimmick and lack of preparation completely destroyed whatever sort of goodwill he would have otherwise had going.
Now, we have to get down to brass tacks when it comes to this product itself: who is going to want one of these? While we love the novelty of something like this, it’s hard to see any practicality at all in something that is not going to redefine the transportation industry at all. Plus, he has no real patents for it, has zero dollars in sales, and is evaluating his company way more than what it is worth (which is pretty much nothing). Plus, he charges way too much for these things. We’re sure that Drew would appreciate any deal that the sharks would make with him, but if he has watched the show before, he had to go into here thinking that he was not going to get much other than publicity for his company (which also does birthday parties and other appearances). From that standpoint, it’s worked since we are writing this article.
Is this something that you would ever want to see at your party?
