‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9, episode 5 preview: Snowy skies

Even before “Grey’s Anatomy” season 9 started off, there was talk that Thursday night’s episode entitled “Beautiful Doom” was going to be one that fans would talk about for years to come. Now, it’s finally here … and that question is still beginning to be asked. There is definite potential here, but what we still don’t know is whether or not the characters are going to evolve enough to make the end of this episode a drastic difference from where it began.

For now, we will just have to settle for the latest sneak peek for the episode, which does focus on exactly what we have been told to expect during this episode: Meredith, Cristina, and very little else. The two share a phone conversation about what is currently going on in their lives, and it turns out there is quite a bit. In the case of the former, she is working to deal with the fact that baby Zola is going through a crazy time, and she needs to figure out how is the best way to navigate her through that while also dealing with the stress of work and everything going on with Derek. As for Cristina, she’s merely not adapting to a new (and very cold) situation as well as she probably wants to.

By the time that this episode comes to a close, is it possible that we could see these two together again? Sure, mostly thanks to the fact that no one expects to see two major characters on any show away from each other for an extended period of time. It just doesn’t make any sense to not take advantage of some sort of chemistry that you know is there between the actors.
