‘The X Factor’ UK review: Did Rylan Clark, Kye Sones survive another week?
Leading up to Sunday night’s “The X Factor” UK results show, there were clearly some acts that we were more worried about than others. Rylan Clark has been polarizing throughout, and he also had the dishonor of going first on the show; meanwhile, Kye Sones was slightly forgettable and District3’s performance was largely panned by the judges.
So did any of this translate into a struggle with the votes? As it turns out, it ended up hurting two out of the three. Both Kye and Rylan were in the bottom for the second time this season, and it ended up being a battle between camp and quality that, at least on the surface, Gary Barlow was likely to lose. For one, producers love controversy, and Rylan brings so much more of it than Kye; and while his performances are more comfortable, they are rarely as good.
Before we get to the final decision, let’s take a look at how the two parties squared off in their final sing-off before the judges.
Rylan Clark – Admittedly, we barely understood a single note of what Rylan chose to sing here. It wasn’t good, and in what was even worse news for him, it really wasn’t entertaining without all of the dancers and the glitter surrounding him.
Kye Sones – Kye not only ate Rylan’s lunch during this sing-off, but he also gave what was undoubtedly one of the greatest performances out of anyone all season long. He completely slayed this version of Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up” like he was a knight in shining armor looking to slay Gary Barlow’s dragon.
Now, we return to the part Gary was dreading: the vote. Thankfully, Louis acknowledged the fact that Kye slayed his performance, and then it came down to Tulisa, who chose to send home Kye. Shocker! We had yet another deadlock, and the Dermot O’Leary announced that the act leaving the competition was … Kye. Somehow, not even getting destroyed in the sing-off is enough to get Rylan out of this competition.
What do you think about the decision for not only Britain, but also the judges?

what’s the point in a sing off if the one who wins it in a knock-out doesn’t stay??
this show is a joke

Rylan stayed because he adds controversy to the show. This has to be important for them given the recent decline in popularity of the show and rumors that it might be axed in UK. Me and you won’t be writing these comments if it weren’t for whats been going on in the show.
I couldn’t agree more with everyone else that Rylan sucks as a vocalist, big time; and Kye is miles ahead of him vocally, commitment wise and has improved a lot in his performances too.
Pity the judges & their shortsightedness for coming up with these decisions. There is NO way Rylan will get offered an album deal, some production company might hire him as an extra dancer though.

What a joke! Rylan is nothing short of horrid. Its like being in the BirdCage every week. Tulisa showed what an idiot she was. Mentally and musically!

I am SHOCKED that Tulisa chose to send home Kye. Yes, Rylan is likable and yes, he’s fun to watch. But to send home Kye over him?? Kye, who had that EXCELLENT performance?? I’m just angry now. It really is a shame :( I never liked Tulisa that much to start with as a judge but now I’ve lost even more respect for her.

I totally disagree with what Tulisa did in choosing to save Rylan! Last time I checked the winner is going to get a recording contract. Somehow I do not think he will be big internationally and many people are not going to buy his album. He might be an entertainer but he is sending home amazing singers who deserve to still be in.

It is a shame to all people that every week Rylan stay in the show and I good singer goes out. Where does Tulisa lives, in Rylan heaven? Tulisa and the other female judge must ba fired for next year show.
