Outlander promoted with Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe for Golden Globes

We’ve been curious for a while to see how Outlander is going to be promoted for the 2020 Golden Globes, and for good reason. While it’s eligible for the awards this year (something that we confirmed with Starz a while back), it’s only for a small handful of episodes. We weren’t sure if that would mean that Starz would put a little less into pushing the show than in the past.

Yet, Outlander has been a great player for Starz at the Globes. While unfortunately Sam Heughan has been snubbed year after year, we’ve at least seen some love elsewhere. Take, for example, Caitriona Balfe getting several nominations over the past few years. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen as much good news come in via actual wins, but nominations are still a great way to bring attention all around a show.

If you look HERE, you can get a good sense at just how hard Starz is working to promote Outlander — and how much money they are spending. The image below comes via Sam Heughan’s Instagram, and it shows you a massive building/billboard hybrid that is going on for Outlander right at a place many voters will see it. What’s kind of interesting is that this photo of Sam’s Jamie and also Claire (Caitriona Balfe) was recently shared as promotion for season 5 — yet, it’s being used here as promotion for season 4 and the Globes. We don’t blame Starz — it’s a wonderful photo. we’re mostly just happy that Starz is putting forth some effort here.

At the moment, the Golden Globes campaign season is very much at critical mass. These nominations will be announced on December 9, so we’ll come back around next week to announce some of the individual nominees, snubs, and surprises. Hopefully, there is some good news when it comes to Outlander when they are announced!
