The Flash season 6 episode 9 spoilers; winter return date hopes

The Flash

Next week, The Flash season 6 episode 9 is going to be coming on the air … but it’s not exactly what you would expect. At all. Rather than this being an ordinary episode of the CW series, instead you’re going to be getting a look at Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3. This is the last episode of the crossover in the calendar year, and you’re going to see a number of important characters from The Flash play a big part. Take, for example, Killer Frost and Cisco Ramon. There are also some newcomers, and this episode marks the first time that Black Lightning will be a part of the Arrowverse proper. (Note that he’s not turning up until after the Black Lightning midseason finale — for the sake of continuity.)

You can see the full trailer for Crisis on Infinite Earths as a whole over here. Meanwhile, we’ve got the synopsis for The Flash season 6 episode 9 below:

BLACK LIGHTNING JOINS THE ARROWVERSE IN THE THIRD CHAPTER OF THE CROSSOVER – Pariah (Tom Cavanagh) enlists Black Lightning (guest star Cress Williams) to help stop the Anti-Monitor (guest star LaMonica Garrett) after Flash-90 (guest star John Wesley Shipp) shares what he learned from his battle in ‘Elseworlds.’ With the help of Black Lightning, Barry (Grant Gustin), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) come up with a plan that could save them all. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) has a heart-to-heart with Ryan Choi (guest star Osric Chau), while Oliver (guest star Stephen Amell) and Diggle (guest star David Ramsey) return to an old familiar stomping ground. David McWhirter directed the episode with story by Eric Wallace and teleplay by Lauren Certo & Sterling Gates (#609). Original airdate 12/10/2019.

When’s the next normal episode airing?

There’s a chance that you could be waiting for a while. Crisis on Infinite Earths will be returning in January to finish off its story, but according to the Futon Critic, the series may not be coming back with new episodes until we get around to February. Note that this could be subject to change; personally, we wouldn’t be surprised if it is back in late January, but regardless of when it returns, it will be a different era with some new characters and a story largely separate from the saga of Bloodwork.
