9-1-1 season 3 fall finale: Is Michael dying? Bobby’s dilemma

911 season 2

Tonight’s 9-1-1 season 3 fall finale had a lot of holiday cheer … but also a shocking final few moments.

In a conversation at the Christmas celebration, Athena’s ex Michael revealed to Bobby that after his injury, there were some scans done that made it clear that he had a tumor. It doesn’t seem as though his future his bright, as he’s already dealing with a wide array of different symptoms.

So where does the dilemma now lie with Bobby? It goes a little something like this: Being told to keep the truth about what he’s going through a secret from Athena and everyone else, given that he wants to have this Christmas where everyone can just be happy. It’s an obvious dilemma, given that you would understand why he would want to keep this secret for Michael’s sake. Yet, he’s also with Athena and he may feel like she has a right to know. The issue here is what happens if the truth comes out that Bobby knew about it and didn’t tell her — could she understand? Maybe, but it could also cause there to be some trust issues and a ripple effect could play out in their relationship for some time moving forward.

Alas, we’re going to be waiting for a good while to see when 9-1-1 is coming back … and with that, what happens next when it comes to Michael and his health. Sure, we’re rooting for him to be okay with every single fabric of our being, but we also get it that 9-1-1 is a show where a lot of bad stuff can happen. This is not always a world decorated with happy endings and characters feeling safe and secure in their relationships.

At least there were some other daring rescues and holiday cheer in this episode, right? Maybe that will help to soften the blow at least slightly…
