The Good Doctor season 3 episode 10 promo: Shaun Murphy’s pain
If you’ve seen the promo below already, you know what we’re talking about here. After all, Shaun has received word that his estranged father is ailing and because of that, he’s got some important decisions to make as to how to move forward. It does seem as though he will pay him a visit, but what does he say in that moment? How does he handle some of his feelings? Shaun’s parents haven’t factored into every single episode of his journey, so bringing them back will inevitably lead to a lot of other emotions coming back. There’s really no other way to break down this situation at the moment.
Yet, how will Shaun recover from both the news and the experience of seeing his father? Both of these are important, and they each are cornerstones to what you see at the end of this promo, where Lea is doing her best to comfort Shaun in the only way she knows how. The way in which she does so does speak volumes, given the fact that Shaun does have such an aversion for physical content much of the time. He trusts her, and he also needs as many people who are there for him as possible.
No matter what happens, Shaun will still continue to have a family of his own. Things have been difficult here or there with Carly, but we know how much she cares about him. Meanwhile, Dr. Glassman can be a father figure in his own way, though we know that Shaun has needed to be there for him at times through his own health struggles, as well. Their bond oscillates and changes, but what matters is their ability to be there for each other through thick and thin. That’s the constant that will allow the two to keep moving forward and taking on problems.
Maybe we’ll get closure with Shaun and his father and a cliffhanger elsewhere … or maybe this will be the cliffhanger. Either way, we imagine that there will be some sort of tease here into the next part of the season.
