Tonight, NCIS: New Orleans season 6 episode 9 featured a chance for Pride and the rest of the team to seek justice. It was powerful, emotional, and it featured Pride doing whatever he could in order to stop Eddie Barrett.
From the get-go, it was clear that Scott Bakula’s character wanted justice — or, needed justice. He had to figure out a way to avenge Lasalle’s death. The problem with Barrett was that he had an operation all around him, including some criminals who were willing to risk themselves in order to make sure he was free. That’s a part of what happened in the episode tonight, as an alibi witness turned up in order to help Barrett get out of the situation that he was in, and that proposed a dilemma for Pride. He had to figure out a way to get Eddie out of prison, mostly so that he could ensure that he could catch him screwing up again.
This episode did bring you just about everything — think in terms of an epic prison fight, plus also some emotional team moments and the threat of a major showdown in the closing minutes with Frank’s militia. This was not your typical showdown for the team. They were outnumbered and out-planned. We thought that this was going to be a story resolved in this episode, but not so much. Instead, we’re not going to be waiting for a while to see if they can survive.
Do we think that Pride and company are going to be A-Okay? Color us optimistic, but we do have to remember that this is a show that already killed off a major character. We certainly wouldn’t put it past them at the moment that they would be willing to take something like this on all over again. For now, though, we just have to say that this is a crazy cliffhanger, just about as crazy as you’re going to see on a show like this.
