NCIS: Los Angeles season 11: Barrett Foa teases Beale’s return
For those who did not know, the primary reason for Eric’s absence was due to Foa’s participation in Angels in America, a play that meant a lot to him and one that allowed him to flex some different creative muscles. (Eric Christian Olsen told us a little more about that recently.) His return on Sunday night seems to allow him to do the same, as explained in a new interview with TVInsider:
“It was a dream role in a dream play [in Angels in America] that was daunting for me: It deals with politics and sexuality … But it’s good to shake things up. I did that with this episode too. Beale’s usually in ops with an earpiece and tablet. I loved getting out of the studio. I might have a cold now [from being outside at night shooting], but it’s worth every tissue.”

Foa also noted that there is “bound to be a ripple effect” that comes from his mission, especially when it comes to his relationship with Nell. The series hasn’t focused on it all that much, but it’s easy to imagine why there could be. Just think about it in these terms — Eric has been away from his girlfriend for months on end, often with very little communication. Given everything else that she’s been forced to go through, there has been a tremendous amount on her shoulders.
