Blue Bloods season 10 episode 9 sneak peek: Anthony advises Erin
In the sneak peek, Anthony raises the question of whether or not she is going through a mid-life crisis. why is that? Well, for starters, she’s having a hard time accepting the idea of her dream job of DA being right in front of her, provided that she accepts the Mayor’s offer and goes for an election. Beyond just that, she’s dealing with the constant stress of the job, her up-and-down relationship with her ex Jack, and then also the realization that Nicky is no longer in New York. We get the sense that we’ll see her again at some point this season, but there is no guarantee it will be anytime soon.
Anthony is trying to help Erin, who is clearly struggling, mostly because he has an acute understanding on what it’s like to deal with so many life changes all at once. He’s gone through it and understands it. He recognizes the sort of issues that can go along with it. Maybe over time, Erin will listen more to Anthony and realize that she may just need to re-center. If she does end up running for DA, after all, she’s going to make sure she is as well-equipped for the job as possible.
If nothing else, think of this sneak peek as another great reminder of Erin and Anthony’s strength as characters. Beyond that, it’s a foundation to everything else that is coming in this episode — for the record, it’s rather nice for Blue Bloods to give us some sort of long-term story arc for one of the characters. We haven’t seen that for too many cast members so far this season.
