When Lucifer season 5 first picks up on Netflix this spring, where is the story going to find one Chloe Decker? In simple terms, she’s struggling. How would you imagine anything different? She’s reeling over the loss of someone she cares about, and there are questions aplenty as to whether or not Lucifer will ever come back from Hell. (In our head, it feels pretty clear that he will … but we also recognize that there’s no way that Chloe could ever know that.)

Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, here is some of what Lauren German had to say about the early days of this season, and how Chloe is going to be dealing with it all:
“Season five picks up… Chloe is heartbroken but she’s trying to almost play it cool more or less with Maze. They’re going out, drinking a lot, they are dancing. But also, Maze is helping her as a bounty hunter at the LAPD. Chloe has no idea where Lucifer is. She’s heartbroken but has no idea how to show it … She knows he left but doesn’t think he’s ever coming back. She’s not sure. She’s trying to drink her sorrows away and do her job and pound the booze to forget with Maze — and that is where season five picks up.”
Luckily, Tom Ellis also makes it clear to the aforementioned publication that you may not be waiting too long in order to get answers on whether or not Lucifer can get back from Hell. You’ll have a chance to see that episode, and many others, air at some point in the spring most likely — there are sixteen episodes in the final season, and they are going to air in batches of eight.
