New Amsterdam season 2 fall finale: Did Max say goodbye?

Tonight, the New Amsterdam season 2 fall finale was about closure for some … but then also chaos for some others. It all depends on where you where you decide to look.

For Max Goodwin, he did get a wonderful bit of news in that his cancer is in remission! In theory, this should be something that he can celebrate and rejoice in. What’s the problem? Well, it may be so simple as the fact that he has to admit some hard truths to himself. Take, for example, the fact that Georgia is never going to witness him be okay. That dream is gone, and he now has to deal with the life that is in front of him. We’re not sure that we are ever going to see Georgia again after tonight, which is going to be a gut-punch given how much Max loved and cared for her.

Speaking of gut-punches, though, is Dr. Sharpe losing her job? If nothing else, we know that she is no longer leading oncology or the hospital after the decision was rendered near the end of the episode. She now has to face a very different life for herself in the immediate future … though we do think that there’s a chance that something else to come her way. We have a hard time believing that it’s fully done for her insofar as her being able to rise back up to her old position.

The major developments within this episode don’t end here — instead, Floyd has to deal with the possibility that Evie could be leaving New York for another job, one that she claims she will very much consider. Meanwhile, there’s also that crazy cliffhanger at the end of the episode, one that makes it seem as though some of the problems from Rikers are going to step over into the hospital itself. This could lead to a chaotic lockdown situation, one where there could be someone with an active firearm on the lose. This is not going to be an easy situation for anyone to come back to.
