This Is Us season 4 episode 7 sneak peek: Randall’s concerns over Malik

This Is Us season 4 episode 7 is set to arrive on NBC this Tuesday, and at the center of the story to come is some big drama pertaining to Malik. What do we know at the moment? For starters, that Deja and him have been growing closer … and also that Randall has some serious concerns over it. He is worried that the kid is a bad influence on Deja, especially after he convinced her to skip school for a tour of the town. Also, there’s another issue at play here in that Malik is a father at a very young age. Is this the right relationship for someone like Deja, who is both very young and has gone through a lot already?

In the sneak preview below for Tuesday night’s new episode, you can see Randall airing out a lot of his concerns as he prepares to meet Malik’s parents for the first time. It seems as though Randall has already set his mind on one thing and one thing only: These two not being together. He wants to do everything that he can, seemingly, in order to ensure that they don’t end up together. He also wants Malik’s parents on board with his thinking.

Anyway, here is where Beth’s opinions start to come into play … and she is going to have a unique take of her own on all of this. She isn’t so quick to immediately dismiss the idea of Malik being with Deja, mostly because she knows that forbidding it may just lead to there being even more chaos. She doesn’t want a Romeo & Juliet situation and she recognizes that Malik’s parents could prove to be good people.

This story will be juxtaposed in some ways with a dinner from Randall’s past — one where Jack and Rebecca welcome in his teacher. This is a man who has become somewhat of a surrogate father figure to a young Randall, at least in terms of giving him a different view of the black experience.
