The Affair season 6: Could it ever happen at Showtime?
Ultimately, this demand is a part of the culture that comes with TV viewing. After getting so immersed into shows year after year, they become a part of your blueprint. It’s hard to crumple that up and throw it away — and the series finale tonight may be akin to putting it through the shredder.

Yet, the sad news that we must admit and realize is this: There will be no The Affair season 6, pending some shocking decision down the road. Season 5 was always meant to be the end, and in some ways it’s a miracle that we made it here. Think back to the terribly-polarizing third season, or the departures of both Ruth Wilson and Joshua Jackson before the final season even began. There were so many hurdles that this show needed to jump through and yet, time and time again, it found a way.
So with this, let’s just hope that the series finale tonight offers up closure to all of the major storylines that matter, whether it be the relationship history between Noah and Helen, what really happened to Allison, the future for some of the supporting characters and above all, hope that some people can move forward. The Affair was never a story about perfection, especially since so many characters do often fall short of it. Instead, it’s about recognizing your flaws and, if possible, finding a way to work through them. It’s not always something that characters are capable of doing, but at least with some, you want to see that effort being made. That’s at least a sign that they care.
It’s been an incredible journey, and without a doubt, we’re going to miss this show.
