Fuller House season 5: Bob Saget on saying ‘bittersweet’ farewell

Fuller House

Fuller House season 5 is, at this point, nearing the end of production. What does that mean? Well, for starters, think in terms of a number of emotional moments. Also, still plenty of laughter. Isn’t that what someone like Bob Saget is really known for?

In a new video interview with Access (see below), you can see Saget opening up a little bit about the Netflix comedy — a revival of Full House — coming to a close after season 5. He spent a good bit of time giving the credit elsewhere for the new show’s success, most notably the trio of Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, and Candace Cameron Bure. They have been the captains at the front of this journey and without some of their contributions, there would be nowhere for this show to end up going.

Saget did also eventually note that it is “bittersweet” seeing the show go, largely because it has been a huge part of his life and legacy. There will be some who know Bob for his work on America’s Funniest Home Videos and as a standup comedian; yet, there are going to be others who remember Bob mostly for playing Danny Tanner on the original show. He’s at peace with that, and recognized another great in Leonard Nimoy in talking a little bit more about how to perceive great success in mostly one thing.

Is there a chance for more of Bob in the final season of Fuller House? That feels like a sure thing. While there are some people who are very unlikely to appear (think along the lines of Lori Loughlin or the Olsen Twins), getting John Stamos, Saget, and Coulier back on is sort of essential for paying off much of the original show. It’s a great way in order to both balance the old and new eras of this show.

So will Fuller House season 5 really be the end of this franchise? Given its popularity on Netflix, we do think that there will always be a chance for more. Given how much networks and cycles are recycling properties, anything is possible.
