Outlander season 5: What’s the next footage we’re expecting?

At the moment, Outlander season 5 is still a few months away from premiering — that much is unfortunate, and it is also true. It’s not going to be easy enduring the end of the Droughtlander to learn officially what’s coming up for Jamie, Claire, and everyone else over at Fraser’s Ridge.

With that being said, we know that there will be at least some footage that comes our way in the meantime, and that leads to the principal question that we have at this very moment: When can we expect some of that? What’s the next round of footage for season 5 going to look like?

If we had to guess, we would say that the official trailer for season 5 will either be released during the holiday season or early on in the new year. We’re still too far out on it now, especially since we’re not even a month removed from the first teaser being released. Starz has a somewhat-methodical approach to how they like to promote new batches of episodes, and we don’t foresee that this is going to be changing just for this season.

With this being said, we also do expect something more to be shared from the show fairly soon. What could it be? If we had a prevailing theory, it’d be either another short teaser, a message from the cast, or a featurette timed with another important event: The end of season 5 filming. The remaining episodes of this current season are being put together right now. The cast is hard at work trying to make them perfect, and they should be done well before the arrival of Christmas. This would be a good way for Starz to capture the conclusion of another long production and celebrate it — while also anticipating a formal start to season 6. We wouldn’t assume that production for that season will be underway until at least the spring, but there hasn’t been much said publicly as of yet. Our thinking is mostly just that with season 6 being ordered long ago and with the writers working within the room, there is no need to rush things along.

The folks at Outlander want you to be excited and engaged about what’s coming. With that in mind, we can’t imagine that they will keep you waiting forever to see what’s next.
