Grey’s Anatomy season 16: New photos for Ellen Pompeo, cast!

In the midst of everything that is going on over on Grey’s Anatomy, here is one thing that comes as a surprise: It’s been years since we’ve seen a new batch of cast promotional photos. Sure, you get some of the episode-by-episode photos year after year, but it’s been ages since we last saw Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, or any other part of the series sit down and take specific out-of-context shots. The last time that we can remember the whole cast doing it was a few years back, and even then, we don’t remember all the photos coming out at once.

One of the funnier things about some of these photos is simply this: Meredith is the only character not seen wearing her lab coat. What gives? It’s probably just a function of her not being an actual doctor at the moment. (We wouldn’t be shocked if there is one that she took that will come out later — it’s possible that she gets her old job back, right?)

One other interesting observation in these is that Alex and Webber are both wearing lab coats that read Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, as opposed to their new digs across town. Does this mean that they come back? We wouldn’t read too much into it — instead, these are photos meant to stand the test of the time. ABC wouldn’t want to release them wearing different lab coats in the event that they are only going to be gone for a few more episodes.

New to the cast photo release this time around are people like Levi, Link, Teddy (she’s been around for some before, but it’s been a while), and Koracick. It’s also interesting that Catherine has one, given that we don’t always consider her to be a main cast member — but she is very much involved in the story.
