‘Glee’: Hear Lea Michele, Darren Criss’ stirring new cover (video)

Lea Michele and Darren Criss have a passion for music that extends far beyond the world of “Glee,” and in the newest example of this, you can hear below a rather stirring performance of the classic from “Once” in “Falling Slowly.”

In a performance recently benefiting the organization Big Brothers, Big Sisters, the two parties got together to take on what is one of the emotional songs ever to be featured in the world of film. There is a reason that this song has become loved around the world, and Michele and Criss (who play Rachel Berry and Blaine Anderson on the actual Fox show) do a great job here of capturing the pain and the longing that is in the actual song. You could also see this performance as a little bit of a campaign stop in that they are each hoping that Ryan Murphy will take a look at the performance, and then decide to including “Falling Slowly” in an upcoming episode of “Glee.”

Granted, it’s going to be hard to find the right context for Rachel to sing this song for at least the immediate future, as the character will be in a little bit of a quagmire when it comes to her romantic life. She and Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) are no more, and Michele herself has hinted that Rachel will remain single rather than try to dive into a new relationship right away in her new city. “Glee” returns with all-new episodes on Fox beginning on Thursday, November 8 with “The Role You Were Born to Play,” which will actually be focused more on Ohio than life in New York.

What do you think about this “Falling Slowly” cover?
