The Masked Singer: The Skeleton unmasked as Paul Shaffer!

The Masked Singer

Tonight’s new episode of The Masked Singer featured six different performers fighting to stick around — and at the end of the hour, one of them would be unmasked.

So who would it be? In the early going, we were worried about the Skeleton for many different reasons — mostly in that he didn’t have the same sort of musical range as everyone else performing tonight. Yet, you could at least argue that the Skeleton was a sentimental favorite, someone who was appreciated for some of their backstory and their ability to have a little bit of fun on the stage.

In the end, tonight the audience determined that it was the Skeleton who was revealed at the end of the episode — and it turned out to be none other than Paul Shaffer! This is one of the guesses that we had coming into this episode, as there were so many different clues sprinkled in all around it. He was someone who spent the majority of his life being support for David Letterman, and he has a tremendous amount of musical flair. We are super-glad that he was on the show — he’s such a unique guy, but the irony here is that his uniqueness is a part of what gave him away. His voice is just so distinct that it’s hard to think of him as anyone else.
