Outlander season 5: Sam Heughan on Jamie’s dilemma + more!

With Outlander season 5 premiering in the new year, there are so many fantastic things to anticipate. Just think across the board here! You’re going to have opportunities to explore new family dynamics in North Carolina, new chapters of various love stories, and of course also some complicated ethical dilemmas that are going to be hard for some of these characters to navigate.

Of course, none of these are going to prove more challenging than Jamie Fraser doing whatever he can in order to ensure that Murtagh is safe after it is clear that the British are coming after him. It’s not in his character to go back on his word, but it’s also not in his character to betray a friend. Clearly, you can see where some of the dilemma here is going to lie!

Speaking via TVInsider in a new interview from New York Comic-Con, here is some of what we had to say on this subject:

“Jamie’s a man of honor and a man of his word … To be on the side of the British for him is certainly going to be an interesting moral dilemma. He’s going to find himself between a rock and a hard place.”

At some point within this season, Jamie’s going to have to pick a side, right? He can’t just continue to swing a metaphorical pendulum from one side to the next when that isn’t going to achieve all that much in the end. The British are going to want to force a decision out of him, really no matter how long it takes for them to do just that.
