The Flash season 6 episode 2 spoilers: ‘A Flash of the Lightning’

Flash season 4We’re sure that there is some fascinating content buried within The Flash season 6 episode 2 when they arrive on The CW next week. Yet, it feels like the show is doing what it can to hide some of it … at least in terms of episode titles. How else do you explain “A Flash of the Lightning” as a name? It’s something that we would associate with this show almost no matter when it’s airing … so we want to go ahead and assume that there is something special happening here. We’ll just have to wait and see what that looks like.

For now, let’s just go ahead and share the official The Flash season 6 episode 2 synopsis — it offers up at least a few more hints as to what could be coming here:

JOHN WESLEY SHIPP TO GUEST STAR – Faced with the news of his impending death, Barry’s (Grant Gustin) resiliency suffers as he struggles to fight fate. Meanwhile, Cecile’s (Danielle Nicolet) career as a D.A. conflicts with her identity when she crosses paths with a villainous meta-human. Chris Peppe directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Jeff Hersh (#602). Original airdate 10/15/2019.

Within this episode, we know that there are plenty of different things we’re excited to see, even with a vague title and general details. Take, for example, the big news that we’re going to be seeing John Wesley Shipp back on the show! It’s glorious news, and that also raises the question of what sort of character he is going to play. If we had to guess, we’d say that it is Jay Garrick given that this is the character he’s played most prominently as of late — plus, it’s harder to envision any of his other characters turning up given the circumstances. (It’s hard to imagine Henry Allen in particular — he’s dead, for starters, and finding a way to bring him back does erase the impact of his death to a certain extent.)

Eventually, we know that we are leading into the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover event … and then also a showdown with Bloodwork, who is being billed as the Big Bad for the first half of episodes.
