This Is Us season 4 episode 2 promo: Toby’s weight loss; Kate & Jack

This Is Us season 4 episode 2 is arriving on NBC this Tuesday, and the promo below does more than give you a sense of what could be coming then. Instead, it casts its focus far into the series’ future and offers up a wide array of thoughts about everything that we could be seeing in the weeks to come. This will be an emotional season, no doubt, and one that does occasionally try to catch you off-guard.

For some other evidence of this, just think about the scene below featuring a shirtless Toby. He seems to be losing weight, and maybe this will be the sort of thing that helps to boost his confidence to a certain degree. Yet, none of this alleviates any of the concern that we have in the future timeline, where the character does appear to be sad and there are questions still all about whether or not Kate is even still alive. In the present, we know that Kate is ready to take on the enormous responsibility of being a great mother to a baby with special needs. Jack suffers from blindness and it may have been the sort of thing that impeded him much of his life. Yet, simultaneously we know in the future that he ends up finding success in music; not only that, but he meets someone and falls head over heels for her.

Beyond the stories of Kate and Toby, this promo also does reveal that Randall will be dealing with all of the scrutiny that comes with being a politician. There are a lot of great things that he can do, but he has to prepare for situations where certain people, whether it be opponents or friends of opponents, try to take him down.
