Saturday Night Live promo: Woody Harrelson introduces Billie Eilish

SNL

The first Saturday Night Live promo for the season is here! Get ready for a fun premiere, but also for more comedy with Woody Harrelson as the host.

In the video below, you can see Harrelson alongside first-time musical guest Billie Eilish as he does his best to show her some of the ropes at Studio 8H. As you would expect, there’s a fun first-day-of-school vibe present here as you see some assorted cast members. Kenan Thompson wants to be treated like the veteran of the show; yet, Woody cannot remember his name. Meanwhile, Heidi Gardner is running for Cast President, Colin Jost and Michael Che are the jocks, and then Melissa Villasenor is doing what she can to “audition” various hosts. There’s some ridiculous moments in here from start to finish, and while none of it is necessarily roll-on-the-floor funny, we’re glad to see SNL back with the tone and sense of humor we’ve come to know and expect.

As for what we’re expecting over the course of the premiere, expect of course political spoofs aplenty. While Alec Baldwin has admitted to tiring of his Donald Trump impression, how can you not use him with all of the impeachment inquiry headlines going on at the moment? Meanwhile, we’re sure there will be some cameos as SNL knows what their bread and butter is at this point — topical commentary, often on political topics.

Host-wise, we’ll admit that Harrelson is a bit of a surprise choice. While we’ve long appreciated him as an actor, he’s not one of those people who is synomynous with SNL in any form — he has hosted the show on a number of occasions, so at least you know that he will be ready for the experience. Eilish is the newcomer, but we’re sure that she will perform some of her hits from the summer and be more than comfortable.
