Supergirl season 5 premiere spoilers: Drama, conflict, and ‘Event Horizon’

Supergirl

The Supergirl season 5 premiere is entitled “Event Horizon,” and just in case you needed some more insight into what is coming up, we’ve got it for you within!

Over the course of this first episode (airing on October 6), you’ll see a small reset-of-sorts. You’ll see what the world looks like following the completion of the season 4 storylines, and with there being new relationships among several of the characters. Kara is going to try to find her footing again, but that may prove challenging thanks to the fact that Lena now knows the truth about who she is. That’s going to be a core storyline for most of the fifth season, and we imagine that there will be a real thirst to explore that throughout most of the weeks/months to come.

Below, CarterMatt has the full Supergirl season 5 premiere synopsis with some additional news as to what is coming up next:

SEASON PREMIERE – Kara (Melissa Benoist) is surprised to find that CatCo has a new owner who has brought in a star reporter. New couples emerge and explore their budding relationships while J’onn J’onzz (David Harewood) receives an unexpected visitor. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Derek Simon & Nicki Holcomb. Original airdate 10/6/2019.

With this synopsis, it’s clear that The CW is trying to keep some elements of the story under wraps — which is understandable, given that there are questions aplenty out there. Take, for example, the presence of Leviathan within the world of this show. How do they factor into everything? Who is the specific Big Bad for the new season? All of this constitutes some interesting stuff to think about. There will also be smaller villains, and of course the show will have right in the middle of it the epic Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover. There may not be as much weight around it right now on Supergirl as there is on some other shows like Arrow and The Flash, but we wouldn’t be shocked if that changes dramatically at some point between now and November, a month or so before the crossover happens.
