Grey’s Anatomy season 16 episode 3 and a big Charmed reunion

For those of you wanting to see Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano together again on TV, Grey’s Anatomy season 16 episode 3 will be a chance to do just that! The two stars from the original version of Charmed will be appearing in the fittingly-titled “Reunion” airing in October, and it’s also a reunion-of-sorts for them with Krista Vernoff and Andy Reaser. The two Grey’s Anatomy executive producers were writers back on the original Charmed and are well-versed in working with the two actress.

A patient at the hospital is brain dead after falling into a construction site, and her two sisters must decide whether or not to keep her alive.

It’s rare that a Grey’s Anatomy synopsis focuses entirely on characters who are not series regulars, but this could prove to be far from your typical episode of the series. This could be a one-off that gives both of the aforementioned actresses a chance to shine and tackle some meaty subject matter. This is also a big decision that many families out there in the world have to have — what constitutes a good quality of life? What’s the best way to look out for your fellow family member?

We’re sure that there will be some other stories sprinkled within this episode, but we anticipate that the promotion around this will be heavily based on the guest talent — much as it should be, given that you don’t get many chances to see Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano working together on primetime television anymore. The new version of Charmed is airing still on The CW, but we don’t get a sense that any cameos/guest spots from either actress is altogether imminent. For starters, the new show is a reboot rather than a revival, so it doesn’t even have the same timeline or mythology.
