‘Dexter’ season 7 spoilers: How will Deb ‘help’ LaGuerta’s new case?

Although the story was not even really mentioned on this past episode of “Dexter,” you can surely expect it to pop again soon: the decision by LaGuerta to re-open the Bay Harbor Butcher case (at least via her own under-the-radar investigation) after finding a blood slide at the site of Travis Marshall’s death during the premiere. We know that she and Sargent Doakes were close, and she is desperate to find a way if at all possible to exonerate him over some of the charges that were thrown his way before he was ultimately killed.

According to TVLine, we are going to see this story pop up again in Sunday night’s episode, but this may not be a good thing for LaGuerta. Why? She is going to open up to Deb about what she is up to, and her lieutenant may not be that interested in helping her to further along the case. She obviously knows who this slide belongs to, and she for the first time is going to be put in a really compromising position when it comes to her job. Can she bring someone to justice? Sure, but she cannot really stomach turning her brother into the police (and based on how she felt about Ray being killed last week, she may not want to).

Unfortunately, we probably have come to underestimate LaGuerta as a detective over the course of the past six years thanks to her being so involved in the bureaucracy of her job, and she is actually a really good at what she does. With that being said, we are a little bit doubtful that Deb is going to be successful at taking this case off the rails.

What do you think is going to happen with this storyline this season?
