NCIS season 17 photo: The Ziva – McGee reunion!

NCIS season 17 is going to feature a number of great moments in the early going, but we’re going ahead and putting a reunion between Ziva and McGee near the top of our most wanted list. These two have a great friendship that had long ago turned into a family bond, and in general, we think it’s one of the more-underrated parts of Ziva’s time on the show. McGee in general is one of the show’s more underrated characters — his personality is a little low-key so he doesn’t often command the limelight, but he’s such a great character and watching his growth as an agent and as a family man has been so much fun to see over the years.

The photo above is one of many from the upcoming second episode of the season entitled “Into the Light,” one airing at the start of October. The photo above shows Ziva, McGee, and Gibbs all together, and it seems business-like in its approach. We imagine that this is the way that things have to be, given what NCIS is going to be up against. We know that one of the big villains in the first couple of episodes is Sahar, someone who has a currently-unknown motive for going after Ziva and Gibbs. We know that Ziva thinks she’s dangerous, and that’s enough to make them all worry since Ziva isn’t afraid of much.

Regardless of whether or not Sean Murray and Cote de Pablo share any scenes together within the premiere, one thing is still true — McGee’s going to be shocked by the news that Ziva is still alive. Beyond that, he’s also going to be upset. Why? It’s because he could’ve been looped in beforehand and wasn’t. He may be frustrated with Bishop over keeping the secret, but also the circumstances that they are all facing. He also will deal with a torrential downpour of emotions; Ziva was like family to him and he had to mourn her. Now, he gets another chance, but there could be a fear that she dies all over again and this time around it will be permanent.
