NCIS season 17: When will Ziva interact with other team members?

Mark Harmon, Cote de Pablo

We’ve known for some time that through the upcoming NCIS season 17 premiere, we are going to see a lot of Ziva David. Yet, does that mean that she’ll be spending a lot of time with some other members of the team? Not exactly.

In a new interview within the latest issue of TV Guide, Cote de Pablo makes it clear that for a lot of the premiere episode (airing in two weeks!), you will see Gibbs and Ziva largely isolated from the rest of the team. That’s what happens when you spend a lot of your time running from a mysterious assailant and you don’t know quite how to escape. There are so many questions and priorities to go along with all of that, and because NCIS has Ziva for more than just one episode, it’s clear that there is no immediate reason to rush things along and cram everything into the premiere.

With that in mind, Cote confirms that in episode 2, you’ll see her spend some time with some other characters — including longtime NCIS team members McGee (Sean Murray) and then also Ducky (David McCallum). She will also have a chance to meet Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) for the first time, a meeting that is of note given the events of the episode “She.” Bishop held onto the secret for the longest time when it comes to Ziva being alive, and there is a chance that it could be a point of contention for the characters moving forward. We have seen McGee upset already in the extended promo when he learns that Ziva (who is like family to him) is alive and no one bothered to tell him.

In the end, we’d imagine that much of the NCIS team would become unified over Ziva’s quest to ensure that she can make it back to her daughter Tali again. The premiere introduces a new, mysterious threat in Sahar — someone connected to why she’s been off the grid for so long in the first place. We know that there are plenty of questions out there, and some of those may be answered within the very first episode. For others, you may figure them out over the course of Ziva’s arc — there are reportedly going to be at least four episodes that feature Ziva this season so settle in for a fantastic season!
