The Blacklist season 7 video: Laila Robins discusses Katarina Rostova

There is an abundance of mystery entering The Blacklist season 7, and at the center of it is Katarina Rostova. Laila Robins is the woman behind the infamous character, and in the video that we have for you below, you hear her speak in-depth about this role for the first time.

Judging from the array of different scenes in which you see the character, it is clear that Rostova is a woman with a plan. She’s a survivor, a master of espionage, and she’s had a great deal of time in order to plot and determine whatever her next moves are going to be. Robins discusses the mythology surrounding the character, but also does not offer all that much in the way of answers as to what her true motives are. Is this even the real Katarina? We still wonder about that, mostly because this is the sort of show that does make us wonder about pretty much every one’s real identity.

Within this video, there’s one moment that is especially striking — Katarina standing alongside someone who could very well be none other than Harold Cooper. What is the goal here, and who is she speaking with about it? We only see the back of someone’s head, but it does feel very well possible that we’re talking here about the Stranger. This is a mystery man we first met at the end of season 6, someone who has an extensive amount of history with Raymond Reddington who he has known for much of his life. If he was able to locate Katarina, we have to imagine it’s possible that he would know a little bit more than this, including what she wants. He may even be working with her.

Beyond what Robins has to say in regards to the new season, this video does also give you a good sense of what could be coming via James Spader and Megan Boone — the latter notes that the show keeps getting better and better, and that season 7 could contain some significant answers insofar as the larger mystery goes.
