The Conners season 2 spoilers: Katey Sagal’s return confirmed
According to a report from TVLine, the former Married … with Children and Sons of Anarchy star is going to be present for a big chunk of the series’ season 2 episodes. Think along the lines of ten out of the nineteen episodes that the show is producing. That does suggest that her character of Louise will be doing what she can to get closer to Dan. We know that she is interested in him, but we also know that Dan expressed last season that he may not be ready for a relationship. In explaining that, here is what executive producer Bruce Helford had to say to the website:
“We’re taking it slow … She wants a relationship. She wants romance. She is not giving up. But Dan is still having difficulty. He’s struggling with whether he’d be betraying [Roseanne] if he does move toward someone else. And can he ever find that feeling with anybody else?”
We know that for us, we’re very much excited to see Sagal on board the show for a significant arc. How could we not be? We’re talking here about a big-name performer with a legacy of sitcoms appearing on one of television’s most-popular ones now. It’s also exploring some interesting creative territory — whether or not someone can move on from love after being a part of such a long marriage. While Roseanne Conner was a brash, cynical person at times, Dan did love her. That love doesn’t just go away.
Maybe Dan and Louise will eventually turn into something more romantic. Rather than spend too much time dwelling on that, let’s accent what The Conners is first and foremost — a show about making people laugh and finding the lightness in what can be some difficult situations. This show is designed to be relatable to a lot of real-life blue-collar families out there.
