Better Call Saul season 5: Giancarlo Esposito on final day of filming

Better Call Saul season 5

For everyone who wants a brief taste of Gus Fring on Better Call Saul season 5, consider this a lovely opportunity to do so!

In a new post on Twitter, Giancarlo Esposito announces (in character no less!) that he is wrapping up filming for the AMC series. while yesterday may or not have been the last day for other cast members, it was for him as his infamous Breaking Bad character. Of course, this doesn’t mean that it is his last appearance overall! Remember that Gus makes it through to Breaking Bad season 4, so there is still some more story to tell with this character as Mike Ehrmantraut and Saul Goodman get involved within his operation to a certain extent.

Judging from the outfit choice for Gus in this video, he may be gearing up for another day of running things at Los Pollos Hermanos — be prepared for that!

So what’s going to be the goal for Gus in season 5? Mostly, to continue to get him closer to being the crime boss that he is in the era of Walter White. Through most of season 4, we saw the construction of the infamous Superlab — we know that it’s there now, so really we’re just waiting to see how the journey brings these characters to who they were years later amidst the rise of Heisenberg. The challenge for Esposito is trying to find a way to show the evolution of Gus — this is a guy who has a tendency to not want to show many of his cards and with that in mind, it’s harder to show a journey from point A to point B.

There are no new episodes of Better Call Saul airing until 2020, but we expect to see the show early on in the new year. Go ahead and be prepared for that now!
