ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 2 spoilers: Barry Sloane becomes series regular
Mike Kelley and the rest of the team behind “Revenge” most really like what they are seeing with Barry Sloane at the moment as Aiden; after all, the actor has just been promoted to a series regular a few episodes into the show’s second season.
It’s not necessarily a jaw-dropper to see someone get this sort of promotion during production, especially since we actually saw it rather recently from Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook) on “Once Upon a Time” before his debut episode even aired. However, what makes this news (which was first reported by Deadline) particularly interesting is that we did not particularly see Aiden thus far as a character who was going to be anything more than a fleeting love interest for Emily VanCamp’s character of Emily Thorne, especially since she also has a pair of other characters in Jack and Daniel who have drawn attention from her in the past.
This promotion does not guarantee that we will see Sloane back for a potential third season, but there is an option that he could continue forward as a regular if it happens. The “series regular” status will officially kick in with the 14th episode of the season slated to air next year, and it will carry him through the remainder of the year. It’s definitely a major coup for the British thesp, who was not a household name to many Americans prior to the start of this show.
What is your reaction to this news, and do you like what you have seen from Aiden so far when it comes to helping Emil discover that her mom is still alive?

Aiden’s character is definitely growing on me…I didn’t want to like him but I totally do! Just because he becomes a regular on the show doesn’t mean he’s automatically going to be Emily’s love interest the whole time. I’m an Emily/Jack fan, but certainly don’t mind the addition of another sexy British accent adding to all the crazy intrigue of Revenge!

Emily should get back with Daniel her original interest

I’m not sure I see what the fuss is about yet-he’s OK as a character to help fill in some backstory for Emily, but as previous posters have said, his joining the cast is taking away from screen time for Nolan and Emily to work together, which is, IMO, the heart of the show. And seriously, how many love interests does this woman need- she needs to get back to the main reason she came to the Hamptons- Revenge!

I agree completely with Deb! I like Aiden, but I thought he’d be just a temporary thing and then Emily would move on. I love her interactions more with Nolan and working with him and I would love to see her move back to Daniel for a while and then Jack later on.

Don’t get me wrong, Aiden is hot, but I’d rather see Emily working with Nolan while romancing Daniel and/or Jack.
