Magnum PI season 2 promo teases wild premiere episode
There seem to be two different goals for this premiere — with the first being a reminder to viewers that the show is in a new timeslot. It just makes sense for the series to air following Hawaii Five-0 on Fridays. It’s a natural timeslot companion to it and, beyond just that, it opens the door for the shows doing more crossovers, if they so choose. There were some minor ones that happened over the course of the past year and we would love to see more! This gives these potential crossovers a chance to become a bit more of an event.
The second goal for CBS seems to be celebrating the “wild” nature of the premiere. What does that mean? We’d wager that they are going to try to up the ante when it comes to the action, the drama, and of course the show’s sense of humor. A part of what makes the action sequences so dynamic is that you care about the characters — there are more stakes because of it. Because Magnum PI can make you laugh, it can also make you cry within the right setting.
What’s also exciting about Magnum PI season 2 is that this is a season where the writers knew advance just what viewers were looking for. The show found its way in season 1, responding to feedback and building up chemistry between its cast members. Now, it can move forward as more of a well-oiled machine and look to accomplish everything that it wants.
Through the season 2 premiere, we anticipate getting to hear Higgins decide whether or not she wants to be in an official partnership with Magnum and, if that’s the case, what it makes for the sort of clientele that they take on? We know that Magnum has always been fine taking on cases even if there’s little financial incentive for him to do so — but that’s because he already has a guest house he can stay in and there’s not always immediate financial pressure on him. While we’re sure that the new season will still have some of that DNA, will things change in the event Magnum has a partner in some of this stuff?
