‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Klaus / Caroline romance scoop!

Who doesn’t like a good romantic subplot? At this very moment, we have a feeling that fans of “The Vampire Diaries” are feeling a little bit confused. In one corner fighting for the love of Miss Caroline Forbes, you have Taylor Lockwood, a man who does not only seem to care about her pretty deeply, but is also what you can affectionately refer to as “secure.” He is not going to cause any sort of enormous problems for you, and will likely also be someone who you can actually depend on.

Then, on the other side of the coin, you have an international man of mystery (not to mention evil) known as Klaus. In some ways, it is easy to admit that Joseph Morgan’s character is the flashier choice: he’s dangerous, he’s alarmingly romantic, and he you know that he will do just about everything he can to get what he wants … and this really even includes bother someone to know end in an attempt to try and win them over.

So what does the man responsible for this role have to say? Speaking as a part of a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Joseph Morgan says that while Caroline may or may not choose what is behind door number Klaus (as we like to call it), this is a story that he is particularly fond of watching play out as an actor:

“[The Klaus/Caroline storyline] brings out Klaus’ humanity. … So I hope he has a shot with her. I think everyone deserves love and a second chance.”

At the end of the day, we will find it hard to believe from a standpoint of realism that Klaus could actually have a chance with Caroline based on some of what she has done to her friends; but yet, we do find ourselves rooting for it some sort of inexplicable way.
