Ballers ending with season 5 on HBO, Dawyne Johnson confirms
If you look below, Dwayne Johnson discusses the end of the show and expresses gratitude to the network, the viewers, and everyone involved in the production. He’s had one of HBO’s biggest comedy hits of the decade, and he’s also allowed a lot of viewers out there to see a side of pro athletes and their lifestyles than any that they’d ever seen before.
So what went into the decision to end the show? According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s one that was made with the show’s creative in mind. The story for this season was crafted in advance to be the end — there’s no story getting cut off at the last second here.
For Johnson, it’s clear that he’s going to be plenty busy without Ballers on his schedule. In a lot of ways, it was a surprise that HBO even got him for a TV series in the first place. We’re talking about one of the most bankable entertainers in the country. He’s going to continue to have movies and other projects in the works, and there is definitely a chance that we do still see Johnson continue his work with the network further at some point down the road.
