NCIS season 17: Is Michael Weatherly interested in eventual return?
Yet, with the return of Cote de Pablo in the premiere (see a set photo from her over at the link here), there is renewed speculation on the future of Michael to the series. There isn’t anything when it comes to a clear-cut answer to this now, but Michael has made it clear that he would be intrigued by the idea of coming back. Speaking in a new video (see below), the actor notes that he would hope to come back at some point as Tony before the series ends — that’s no guarantee that we’ll see him in the premiere or anytime soon.

We’ve said it before, but it remains our hope that if there is some big return for Michael as Tony on the series, it doesn’t happen for a good while. What’s the reason for that? It has to do with allowing the premiere to be about Ziva and only Ziva. There are reasons aplenty to root for Tony and Ziva to be together, but we don’t want to shift over to a philosophy where this is something that needs to happen immediately. Ziva remains her own character, and it would be nice to spend a chunk of time just seeing where she’s at as a person, where’s she’s been hiding and what from? Give Cote a moment to shine on her own – she more than deserves it.
Are we confident that Tony could be mentioned in the premiere? It’s easy to imagine that he could be given that he is a part of Ziva’s past (and also her present — remember, the two have a daughter!), but it may not be top priority. That will be instead the threat that is out there against Gibbs, one that she may be also be roped into.
What do you want to see in terms of Michael’s return to NCIS season 17?
