NCIS season 17 is premiering this September, and at this point, you know already to be excited. The first episode this September is going to revolve around the return of Cote de Pablo as Ziva, and finding information all about her big comeback has proven to be quite the difficult task. Producers have worked in order to ensure that the character’s comeback is fairly secretive … but there is a small tease out there for it now.
If you head over to this link, you can see what appears to be a new image via Entertainment Weekly from the upcoming premiere episode. Note that it appears as though both Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Ziva are wearing the same outfits that they were in the closing minutes of the season 16 finale (watch that scene below, if you need a refresher) … though Gibbs seems to be a little bit worse for wear. Has someone already done their part to try and take his life? We know that this was the primary reason behind Ziva paying him a visit: She was out to warm him that there were those out to harm him. What the final ramifications are of this showdown remain to be seen, but you have to imagine that there will be chaos … with a little action thrown in there. There’s not going to be time for pleasantries — as Ziva herself said.
To go along with the image, there is also a quote from executive producer Steven D. Binder:
“We are ecstatic to have Cote de Pablo return as our beloved and mysterious Ziva … These are two huge episodes with lots at stake for Gibbs and Ziva physically and emotionally.”
We wouldn’t take this quote to mean that Ziva is for sure appearing in two upcoming episodes, as it may be a reference to how the character has appeared in one episode already in the season 16 finale. What’s also clear from this is that Ziva has some sort of tie to whatever is going on here as well — is it possible that the threat against Gibbs is also linked to her?
