America’s Got Talent alum battling in Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions

America's Got Talent - BGT

This just in — apparently, we need more iterations of the Got Talent franchise airing all across the year. How else do you describe the news that we’ve got now?

Today, it was confirmed that Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions is going to be premiering on August 31 — two weeks from tomorrow!  The judging lineup of Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon from the flagship version of the show will be back, along with a number of familiar faces. The trailer below hints that reigning champion Colin Thackery is going to be back, as is another reigning champion in Lost Voice Guy. Meanwhile, we know that some acts with America’s Got Talent fame attached to them, including knife-throwing act Deadly Games and also scary magic act The Sacred Riana (also an Asia’s Got Talent alum) will be taking part. Kseniya Simonova, a sand artist who has appeared on multiple editions of the franchise, will also take part.

While not confirmed, we also think we get a glimpse of Bello Nock’s signature hairstyle within the trailer below — he and his daughter Annalise competed separately on AGT, but it looks almost as though they may be doing something on the British version of the series together.

We’re torn about there being another Champions edition of this franchise after America’s Got Talent: The Champions earlier this season. It was great to see a lot of familiar faces and beloved acts returning to the competition. However, at the same time it was also frustrating to see the format play out like it did. We’d enjoy it SO much more in the event that the event was live as opposed to pre-taped — also, on the US version there were such a small percentage of the acts that went on from one show to the final. We lost a lot of great talent and the voting preferences weren’t altogether clear other than that it was done by a group of “superfans.”

Anyhow, we’ll still give this a shot — after all, we do love a lot of the acts. That’s enough to make up for at least a few of the different problems.
