NCIS season 17 filming: Mark Harmon, cast take on the heat
In a new post on her Instagram Stories, Emily Wickersham shared an image of Wilmer Valderrama, Sean Murray, Brian Dietzen, and Mark Harmon. she also noted in a prior image that it’s around 100 degrees today! NCIS typically films around the Santa Clarita area in California, where temperatures can easily get within triple digits in the summer. Technically, the forecast in the city today was for it to reach 102, whereas in some upcoming days it could get up to 104.
Suffice it to say, there are plenty of reasons why the NCIS cast and crew are doing their best in order to stay in the shade while production is going.

It goes without saying why NCIS needs to be outdoors, no matter the weather — this is a series where you need to be out on the street so that it feels authentic! Maybe once or twice a season you can get away with an episode where filming is done using almost entirely interior sets, but you can’t really do it too often … and we imagine that there may have been a lot of them in the premiere already in order to hide Cote de Pablo during her time on set. (It’s still incredible how they were able to keep all of her appearances under wraps, assuming that her time there is done.)
NCIS season 17 will premiere with Ziva’s big return in September, and we imagine more news will be revealed about that within the weeks to come. Hopefully, at some point between now and then we get an opportunity to hear more in terms of what’s coming with her, but also some of the other stories that Harmon and the rest of the cast are taking on. Today feels like business as usual for a lot of them — with some additional heat thrown in there.
