Is Euphoria new tonight on HBO? The Zendaya series’ future
Let’s go ahead and get the bad news out of the way for a lot of you out there who love the Zendaya series — it’s not on the air tonight. Last week’s new episode proved to be the final one of the season, and it concluded with quite a flourish. Think in terms of Rue’s decision to not run away, and then also the powerful musical number that happened along with it. The finale was a showcase of all of Zendaya’s talents as a performer, and it gave us a good sense of some of what the creative direction is going to be moving into a season 2.
At the moment, we know this — Euphoria has been renewed for a season 2 already, and we know that it’s going to remain a high school show. It has a very specific shelf life because of its subject matter, and we don’t think that we’re going to see it deviate all that much from what it’s done so far. There’s no real reason to do so!
The hardest thing about waiting for season 2 is going to be simply that: The waiting. There is no 100% clear indication at the moment as to when season 2 is going to premiere. It could be next year, or HBO may take their time with it. As we’ve stated in the past, there’s going to be a real struggle for them trying to figure this out. They don’t want to rush the second season creatively, but they have to move at a fairly brisk pace. All of the young actors are technically adults, and the older that they get, the less believable it’s going to be that they are all playing teenagers. We’re sure that this is something that the network is thinking about right now; it’s hard to imagine it not being on their mind.
We would imagine that some more news on Euphoria season 2, including a possible premiere date, will become revealed at some point in early 2020. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for it.
