Poldark season 5: Questions arise over final episodes’ air date, time
At the moment, the final episodes of Poldark season 5 are airing Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. on BBC One … but there are some questions about whether or not that will last. As a matter of fact, there’s a full-on uproar over when the last two installments of the series are going to air.
This controversy first began with the announcement that the latest season of Peaky Blinders is going to air in the Poldark timeslot on Sunday nights starting on August 25. What does that mean for the Aidan Turner – Eleanor Tomlinson series? The fear was that it would force the show to go somehow off the air for an extended period of time … but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case.
As a matter of fact, production company Mammoth Screen is doing their part to assure us that this isn’t happening. In a new post on their official Twitter, the company noted that fans “haven’t been forgotten about” when it comes to the final episodes, and there will be more information about their air dates and times before too long. Our feeling is that they’re just being move to a different timeslot and aren’t going to be delayed for some extreme period of time.
So why wouldn’t the BBC just want to keep airing the series where it is? The simplest answer to hand down in response to this is just that they want to move forward and test the ratings for some other shows. While Poldark has been very successful for them over the years, it’s also ending, pending some sort of last-minute revival or anything of the sort. There’s a recognition that they don’t need to keep moving forward with this show in this timeslot, and they can air the final episodes elsewhere. They don’t need to be reliant on them.
While this news may be a bummer, rest assured — the final chapter of Ross Poldark’s story (or at least the TV version) will still be told.
