Is Jett renewed for season 2, canceled at Cinemax? The current status

Jett

Following tonight’s finale over on Cinemax, is Jett renewed for season 2? Could we expect the series to be canceled instead? Within this article, we’ve got some more information all about this very subject.

As of right now, the unfortunate new is simply this — there is no certainty around the show’s future fate at the moment. We know that we’d like to see a little bit more of Jett on Cinemax, but at the same time, it’s all up to the complicated powers that be. Having an original series on this network is not the easiest feat, mostly because you’re not airing in a venue where there are an abundance of live viewers. For some greater evidence, season 1 drew almost 130,000 live viewers weekly — on most networks, that would lead to certain cancellation. But, Cinemax is not your typical network. There are so many different methods in which viewers choose to watch, whether it be live, on the DVR, or via streaming. All of these could play a role in the show having some sort of future.

What we can at least say for now is that there’s a hope behind the scenes for more of the show — provided that showrunner Sebastian Gutierrez has his way. Speaking in a new interview now with Collider, the showrunner had the following to say on the subject of the long-term future:

“I would love to have future seasons to explore these characters, but I didn’t know that until I was making it … Suddenly, when I was making it, I was like, ‘Oh, yes, I know exactly happens next.’ It wasn’t like, ‘In Season 3, this is what’s gonna happen.’ It really came from character and the things that were happening, which was really exciting.”

Typically, networks like HBO or Cinemax decide on what they want to do with their shows within a few weeks after they come on the air. That may end up being the case with Jett, but we’ll just have to take a wait-and-see approach on it. Our feeling, at least for the time being, is that the network is going to wait and see how many viewers it ends up getting after the fact before it properly determines whatever it wants Jett’s future to be.
