Legacies season 2 spoilers: Alexis Denisof coming on board!
According to a new report from TVLine, Alexis Denisof will be recurring on the second season of the Vampire Diaries / The Originals spin-off, playing the role of Professor Vardemus. This is the perfect sort of name for a teacher at a supernatural school, and he is described as an “urbane British sorcerer” who “wins over the Salvatore students with his steadfast belief in the superiority of their supernatural world.” He seems like the sort of educator who will be able to feed into characters’ confidence and make himself all the more appealing and likable as a result of it.

Yet, there are some clear concerns that we’ve got here. Take, for starters, the idea that this Professor ends up elevating these supernatural students so much that they look down on some of their human co-residents of Mystic Falls and start to treat them as second-class citizens. This could be the sort of thing that either exposes them or puts them in even more danger than ever before. You have to be careful with the way in which you speak to impressionable students, especially those who have always felt like outcasts and may relish in this idea of someone coming to them and proclaiming that they are so much more than they previously thought.
New episodes of Legacies is going to premiere on The CW this fall, and,at the forefront of this story is going to be a quest to figure out what happened with Hope … provided, of course, that there are people out there who even remember Hope at all. She’s in a place where much of her existence has been unfortunately washed away. We would imagine she’d be back before too long, but there are some other threats that still remain.
