Agents of SHIELD season 6 finale promo: May’s quest for Coulson
Moving into this episode, there is already a good sense out there of what the stakes are. Izel is the Big Bad and she’s determined to bring her own people to Earth — and to use some of the other characters’ worst fears against them in order to make that happen. This is a part of why Flint is suddenly now back in the world, and why there may be many unpredictable surprises to come in the final episode of the season.

The primary question that you should be wondering in the finale is this — how far will Izel go, and will there be a way to destroy her that is not immediately clear? We’ve been curious about what the synopsis says for a while, given that this notes that we’re going to be seeing some of these characters go to “hell and back” in order to ensure that there is a way to properly take the character down a peg or two or three. Does that mean a Ghost Rider cameo? It feels like that, among other things, is a possibility. The one thing that does feel secure is that the storyline is not going to be resolved in the way that you would expect.
For Melinda May, the mission is going to be even more complicated than you would first think. Obviously, stopping Izel is paramount and, beyond that, there’s a lot of importance that goes along with figuring out how Sarge factors into all of that. Yet, there is also something further here: Learning, one way or another, how Phil Coulson plays a role in some of this. Is there a way to bring him back? We know that she loves him and would do anything to help him. You just have to wonder whether or not there is even anyone to help.
